Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that involves using very fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin. This procedure stimulates the body’s natural healing response, resulting in a smoother and more even skin tone, an improved complexion, and fewer wrinkles. It can also be used to treat acne scars and stretch marks.
Microneedling is often done in conjunction with other treatments such as laser or chemical peels to enhance results. In addition, this treatment can also be combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for even better results. During PRP therapy, the patient’s own blood is used to create a serum containing high concentrations of platelets which are used to regenerate collagen and promote healing.
The benefits of microneedling include improved skin tone and texture, reduction in wrinkles and fine lines, decreased appearance of scars from acne or trauma, minimized pores, improved skin hydration and firmness, and more.
In general, microneedling is a safe procedure with minimal risks associated with it. Possible side effects include redness, swelling, and bruising in the treated area which usually resolves within a few days. Rarely, infections may occur if proper hygiene measures are not taken before and after treatment. It is important to note that results may vary from person to person and multiple treatments might be needed for optimal outcomes.
